Therapy at Sturrup Counselling & Consultingis available to children, teens, adults, couples, and families who are looking for a supportive, non-judgemental space to work through life’s challenges and strengthen emotional well-being.

We work with individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, identity development, and periods of personal transition or growth.

Many people come to therapy when they feel overwhelmed by life experiences, caught in repeating patterns, or unsure of how to reconnect with themselves or others. Whether your focus is healing from past experiences, improving relationships, building coping skills, or gaining clarity and self-understanding, our work is centred around your unique needs and pace.

We welcome people from all backgrounds and identities, and we recognize the importance of culture, lived experience, and personal context in shaping each person’s healing journey.

The first session is primarily about connection and understanding. It’s a space where you can share what’s bringing you in and what you hope to get from therapy, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

We’ll talk through what’s currently going on in your life, any relevant background information, and what support systems you already have in place. You are always in control of how much you choose to share.

I’ll also explain how I work and what future sessions may look like. Together, we’ll start to shape goals or focus areas that feel meaningful for you. The intention is for you to leave feeling more grounded, understood, and comfortable with the process ahead.

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer to this. The frequency of sessions depends on your goals, your current situation, and what feels most supportive.

Many people begin with sessions every two weeks to establish consistency and momentum. During more difficult periods, weekly sessions can be helpful for added support. As things begin to feel more manageable, some clients transition to monthly or occasional check-ins.

We regularly revisit this together so that the pace of therapy continues to reflect your needs as they change over time.

Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of therapy. Everything shared in sessions is kept private, with a few legal and ethical exceptions. These include situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or where disclosure is required by law (such as court orders or child protection concerns).

These limits will be clearly explained in your first session so you can feel informed and comfortable moving forward.

Yes - both options are available.

Virtual sessions take place through a secure online platform, allowing you to attend therapy from a private and convenient location. In-person sessions are held in a quiet, welcoming office space designed for comfort and privacy.

We can talk together about what format feels best suited to your needs.

Sturrup Counselling & Consulting uses an integrative, client-centred approach to therapy. This means we draw from a range of counselling frameworks depending on what best supports each client’s needs.

The focus is always on creating a safe, collaborative space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered in your own process. As your therapist develops professionally, additional training and modalities may be incorporated to further support client care.

Standard therapy sessions are approximately 45-60 minutes in length. The fee is $180 per session, with a limited number of sliding scale spaces available for those experiencing financial barriers.

Fee options and availability can be discussed during a consultation call to find a fit that works for you.

Yes. Services are offered to individuals across all stages of life, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families.

When working with children and youth, approaches are adapted to be developmentally appropriate and may include play-based, expressive, and attachment-focused strategies. Couples and family work focuses on communication, connection, and strengthening relationships.

That experience matters, and it makes sense that it could shape how you feel about starting again.

At Sturrup Counselling & Consulting, we place a strong emphasis on creating a space that feels safe, collaborative, and respectful. Therapy is paced according to your comfort level, and your feedback is always welcomed and valued.

You are not expected to “fit” therapy — the process is adapted to fit you.

Getting started is simple. You can book a free 15-minute consultation to ask questions, explore fit, and talk about what you’re looking for in therapy.

From there, we can schedule your first appointment if it feels right to move forward.
